Public Transport in Cardiff
Dave
Cardiff does not have an underground or tram system. However, it does have good bus services and frequent local trains between different parts of Cardiff and the surrounding towns.
Transport for Wales has a good planner for journeys in Wales.
See https://tfw.wales/plan-a-journey
This works for buses and trains, but sometimes it fails to let you know when a bus is running late. The same site has a lot of information.
For the buses alone, there is a Cardiff Bus app.
If you are travelling by bus in Cardiff, a Single adult fare is £2.40. If you pay by cash then no change is given, so never pay with bank notes.
If you swipe a credit card then when you have enough journeys in a day the price is capped, however if your bank does a “per foreign transaction" fee this will become expensive, if it does, you can look into Curve or pre-paid cards.
There is a week rate, but that has to be purchased through the Cardiff Bus App. https://www.cardiffbus.com/exclusive-app-tickets
On Android, it is here.

Travel from Cardiff Airport to the City Centre -
The buses take about 1½ hours between Cardiff Airport and Cardiff city centre, but some bits are quite scenic.
If you take a taxi or hire a car, it should take around 30 minutes for the same journey.
There is a shuttle bus (304) to Rhoose station for a local train that then takes half an hour to Cardiff City centre.
Walking - Cardiff is a small city so much of it is within walking distance of the city centre. The core part of the city centre is pedestrianised.
Bicycles - There are bike and e-bike hire scheme in Cardiff. Information can be found here: https://cardiffcyclecity.org/resources-2/the-basics/
Much of the city has well marked Cycle lanes so if you do hire one then you can get to most places with a minimum of interaction with cars. Please note that traffic lights do apply to cyclists.
