SIGHT for local advice during travels
Speaker Henkhenk
When travelling somewhere it is very useful to get the inside information of a place (city, region, country), fitting with your interests and goals. For this a local would be best to ask. Such local members form together SIGHT. A member offers one of more services: like information, but lots of time: meeting for talks/drinks, sometimes even eat together (in a restaurant or at their home), and some offer also a place to sleep. Customarily only the expenses made are shared (like cost of food).
Henkhenk, the International SIGHT Coordinator (2018-2026) will present the SIGHT program, how you can use it, how to become a part of it. There are many resources available, like a map with lots of hosts on there, the Mensa SIGHT Program Facebook group, with almost 7000 Mensa members taking part, and much more. Traveling with SIGHT is quite different (no hotel but visit/talk to locals, who are a member too), lots of fun, great for expanding your friend group, a great experience and sometimes even a local tour guide: a member willing to show you around. Some people who met other members in SIGHT are still good friends and visit each other.
This talk is intended for members who are new to SIGHT, and/or want to know more about SIGHT, either as a traveller, as a host, or as both. We are always looking for more people who want to be a potential host address (on your conditions). A nice way to meet other members, either on the road, or from the comfort of your home.
