Characteristics of Highly Gifted Adults
Speaker Frans Corten
Around five to ten percent of the gifted population are highly gifted. Do they have special needs or special characteristics?
Frans Corten (NL, 1962) has specialized himself in career coaching of the gifted since 2001. He has been one of the first worldwide to do so. He has supported more than a thousand clients and has studied their life and career paths. In recent years he has been focusing on the life and careers of the highly gifted (145+). He tried to find some general characteristics of this rare minority but he did not succeed: they differ too much from each other to make general statements. But he did find something else: a set of 16, mostly biographical themes, that seem to occur more often in this group. When someone recognizes 6 or more of them, this may be an indication for high giftedness.
In this session, we go through all 16 of them and all attendants can count for themselves. Note: not finding many of these in your personal life has no significance for your IQ.
Frans’s book Exceptional Talent will be on sale after the session for the special EMAG price of £15 (cash only). www.exceptionaltalent.eu
This talk will take place on the first floor of the University Centre for Student Life (room 1.24 / 1.25)
