How to CRISPR a dragon?
Speaker Milena Kulasek
Join us for a journey into the world of CRISPR/Cas9, the groundbreaking tool that has redefined biotechnology and genetics over the past decade. In this lecture, we'll explore the know-how of CRISPR/Cas9 in a way that will leave you with a working picture of how this modern witchery works, transforming the "abracadabra" in your mind into "aha!". And for a dash of intrigue, we'll perform a thrilling (though heartbreakingly hypothetical) experiment: could CRISPR/Cas9 be used to create a dragon? Spoiler alert – it's better to leave this fantasy in the lab (and definitely out of your backyard).
No prior expertise in biology, dragonology or witchcraft is needed, making this lecture perfect for curious minds from all walks of life.
This talk will be held on the first floor of the Centre for Student Life, Room 1.24 / 1.25
