Evolutionary Psychology
Speaker Mark Van Peteghem.

This talk will explain how evolution not only applies to physical fitness, but also to behavior. Our emotions, social behaviors, and decision-making processes influenced the chances of survival and reproduction of our ancestors. Since these are partly genetically determined, there was a selective pressure on them, so we're left with behavior that is adapted to the struggle of life. Evolutionary psychology is a branch of psychology that examines this to explain much of our behavior, even behavior that seems counterintuitive, and other behaviors we find normal are not found in other animals. The talk will also go into its rocky relationship with the manosphere and the woke movement.

This talk will take place on the first floor of the Centre for Student Life, room 1.26 / 1.27
